This is a personal website. Nothing on it is sold, nothing on it is advertised, and nothing here is measuring you for anyone else. What follows is the whole of what it collects, written plainly, because the list is short enough to write out.
The short version
Reading the site collects nothing about you. Playing citylayoutguessr adds one anonymous row a day saying that a browser opened the game. Signing in to the game, which is optional, stores your name, email address and profile picture from your Google account so that a name and a score can appear on the leaderboard. Your email address is never shown to anyone but me. Ask and I will delete all of it.
Who is responsible
Noah Darwin Lee. The site is a personal project, not a company. Write to noahlee519@gmail.com about anything on this page, including a request to delete your account.
Just reading the site
The pages here are plain files. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages and the typeface comes from Google Fonts, so those two companies see the ordinary request your browser makes for a file, including its IP address. Neither is asked to identify you and neither reports anything back to me.
Playing citylayoutguessr
The game keeps a counter. The first time a browser opens it on a given day it writes one row recording that a visit happened: the kind of event, the date, the page address, and the referring address if your browser sent one. It is written once per browser per day, it doesn’t have an IP address or name, and if you are not signed in there is nothing in it that points at a person.
Everything else the game remembers about your play (the round you are on, your settings, your colours, your result on today’s puzzle) is kept in your own browser and never sent anywhere.
Signing in
Signing in is optional and exists for one reason: to put a name next to a score on the leaderboard. It uses Google, through a service called Supabase that runs the game’s database and sign-in.
When you sign in, Google tells the site your name, your email address, your profile picture and your Google account identifier. Supabase stores that account record. The game copies your name and picture into a profile row, and you can replace that name with any display name you like.
What is visible to anyone who opens the game is your display name, your profile picture, your daily scores and your position on the two boards. Not public: your email address, which is stored with the account and is visible only to me and only in the database’s own dashboard.
Scores
Finishing the daily challenge while signed in writes one row: your account identifier, the date, how many of the ten you got, how long the run took, and when it was posted. One row per person per day. Those rows are what both leaderboards are made of, so they are public in the form described above. Custom games are never posted anywhere.
What your browser stores
Any data your browser stores stays on your own device. They are not sent to me or to anyone else, and clearing your browser’s site data for noahdarwinlee.com removes them. Your browser will store a citylayoutguessr game in progress, your custom setup, your cosmetic settings, which leaderboard tab you last looked at, your result on today’s daily puzzle and whether it has reached the board, and a note of the date.
The flash card tool keeps your lists, your drafts and your cosmetic settings the same way.
Who else is involved
Four services see a request from your browser in the course of serving the site. Any service that answers a request necessarily sees the IP address it came from. GitHub Pages hosts the files. Google Fonts serves the typeface. jsDelivr serves the one script the game needs to talk to its database. Supabase runs the database and the sign-in, and Google handles the sign-in itself. These two are involved only in the game, and only the sign-in involves Google as more than a file server.
Nothing on this site is shared with anyone else, and nothing is sold. There are no advertising networks, no tracking pixels, no third-party analytics, and no mailing list.
How long things are kept
Scores and profiles are kept while the game exists, because a leaderboard with a past is the point of it. Visit rows are kept as a count of how the site is used. Anything tied to your account goes when your account goes.
Removing yourself
You can sign out at any time, and you can change your display name from the game’s menu.
To delete your account, email noahlee519@gmail.com from the address you signed in with. Deleting the account removes the stored account record, your profile and every score attached to it. There is no waiting period on my end beyond how long it takes me to read the email. You can also ask for a copy of everything held about you, or ask me to correct it. If you are in a place whose law gives you those rights formally such as the UK, the EU, California and others, this is how you may exercise them.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly keep anything about them. If you believe a child has signed in, write to me and I will remove the account.
Changes
If what the site collects changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. There is no version of this page that is quietly broader than the one you are reading.
